Article I: Membership Requirements
1. Attend a Rules Interpretation Meeting once a year.
a. The meetings will be held on the first and third Sunday in August.
b. Members who fail to attend a rules interpretation must send a letter of appeal to the President within three days of the second rules interpretation.
2. Attend an in-season clinic once every two years
a. The clinic will be held in late September or early October.
b. Members who fail to attend an in-season clinic over a two year period must send a letter of appeal to the President within three days
of the second missed in-season clinic.
3. Pass the online National Federation/NHIAA Volleyball exam with a score of 80% or better.
a. The online test must be successfully passed by August 25.
b. If a passing grade is not achieved, another online test will be administered to the official after August 25, for successful completion.
4. Pay annual dues, which will be determined at the annual Business Meeting, held on the first Sunday in August.
a. Annual dues must be mailed to the Secretary / Treasurer by November 1.
b There will be a $25.00 late fee if a member fails to pay by November 1
c. All dues / fees must by paid by January 1.
5. Pay the annual NHIAA enrollment fee and meet all requirements as outlined in NHIAA Handbook, By-Law Article X: Sports Officiating,
Section 5: Enrollment of NHIAA Official.
6. The NHVOA Assignor is the recognized Assignor of the NHVOA for NHIAA Varsity, Junior Varsity, Freshman and NH Middle School matches.
Members of the Association will not solicit or accept these matches from anyone but the NHVOA/NHIAA Assignor with
the exception of Freshmen and NH Middle School matches assigned by an athletic director. Members may
accept NHIAA Freshmen and middle school matches from Athletic Directors. No member of the Association shall act as an
assignor using NHVOA officials to assign volleyball matches for NHIAA Varsity, JV, Freshmen and NH Middle School matches without the
permission of the Executive Board.
7. Members knowingly working NHIAA matches with a non-rated, inactive or suspended official, shall officiate the match, then report it to
the Supervisor of Officials for appropriate action.
Article II: Failure to Meet Membership Requirements
1. Any member not fulfilling Association requirements may be sanctioned by the Executive Committee
2. The sanction is solely decided by the Executive Committee.
3. Reinstatement requirements for sanctioned officials are at the sole discretion of the Executive Committee.
Article III: Appeals
1. Any member sanctioned shall have the right to appeal.
2. The appeal should be made directly to the President, who will present it to the Executive Committee.
Article IV: Qualification of a New Hampshire Volleyball Officials’ Association Member
1. Applicants for active membership shall indicate their desire to join by contacting the Apprentice Chair.
2. Be at least 18 years of age.
3. Successfully complete the Apprentice Program.
Article V: Transfer of Membership
1. If a NFHS Volleyball Official from another state seeks to become a member of the Association, they must complete the following:
a. Attend an Annual Rules Interpretation Meeting.
b. Pass the Federation Volleyball exam with a score of 80% or better.
c. Pay annual dues equal to the sum determined by the membership at the Annual Business Meeting.
d. Pass a floor test.
Article VI: Inactive Membership
1. A member may become inactive for a period of no more than two (2) years in succession, unless approved by the Executive Committee.
Notification must be made in writing to the President and received by April 1, in order for a refund of half the dues.
2. Reasons for inactive membership are:
a. temporary relocation
b. illness or injury
c. actively coaching
d. official’s request, when accepted by the Executive Committee.
3. Status of Inactive Members
a. Will remain in good standing by paying half the annual dues.
b. Will appear on the membership lists as inactive.
c. Will lose all voting privileges.
d. Will be ineligible to officiate NHIAA sanctioned games.
4. Reinstatement of Inactive Members:
a. Must fulfill all membership requirements.
Article VII: Fees
1. Match fees and mileage are paid at the current NHIAA rate.
Article VIII: Rights and Privileges
1. As long as members shall remain in good standing, they shall be entitled to the rights and privileges of membership and shall be bound
by the Constitution and By - Laws of the Association.
